the return of Australia's oldest operational steam locomotive. Only 30 tickets remain for our rambler exploring the Melbourne suburbs.

Enjoy a trip through the Melbourne suburbs as we welcome back the oldest operating steam locomotive in Australia, Y112, back to the fleet. Relax in one of our heritage carriages as our 1889 built Y class and a K class take our train around the bay.

Departing Newport at 10:13am, travel in style in Steamrail’s heritage carriages behind two classic steam locomotives as we head to the edge of Hobsons Bay at Williamstown. View Newport Workshops from both sides as we return to Newport then head west on an exciting journey around the Altona Loop line - the first steam special to do so in 11 years! Wave to the locals at Seaholme, Altona & Westona on the single track suburban branchline. Briefly stopping at Laverton, we will then head west to the end of the Metro Network at Werribee.
Departing Werribee, we will take the express route to Newport, through the forgotten stations of Galvin & Paisley, before turning onto the Brooklyn Goods Line, taking us to Sunshine & Albion.
From Albion we will head back towards the city, steaming up the mainlines.

Arriving at Flinders Street at 1:35pm, you will have time to head into the CBD or Southbank for lunch, or wander the banks of the Yarra River at your leisure while the locos head back to North Melbourne to take on water.

After a pleasant lunch break, the train will depart Flinders Street at 3:09pm for an express run South East to Cheltenham. View the leafy inner east and the stunning bay side suburbs along the Frankston Line before returning to Flinders Street at 4:21pm. From here we will return to Sunshine, back onto the Brooklyn Goods Line and arriving at Newport Station at 5:24pm after a memorable day out onboard The Vintage Train!
