X-Men Vs Street Fighter, along with the other Capcom crossover games, was such a great game from the arcade. Merging the iconic fighters from both the X-Men and Street Fighter franchises, this game combined the brilliance of both worlds into a frenzy of powerful powers and overall battles.

This game, as well as most other Capcom games, has a fantastic soundtrack and each character shines with their respective themes that fit them perfectly. Rogue’s theme is as beautiful as she is. The soft melodies feel as if she herself would be singing them, while the piano and synthesizers add an elegance that sounds romantic at its core. But as beautiful as Rogue is, her superpowers can be so intense that they could be fatal. So much so, that for a long time, she could not control them— forbidding her from being able to touch, even the ones she loves most like Gambit himself. To me, the chorus part of this theme expresses that melancholy and ache at not being able to give and receive love. A lady who is a prisoner of her own powers and destined to a lonely existence.

I’ve done a few covers from some of the other crossover games, and I had yet to do one from the X-Men Vs Street Fighter ost and when I heard Rogue’s theme, I always kept her in the back of my mind for when the time would come where I would be able to make this song my own and today is that day. Rock on!
