Just To Die - keshi (@ricoa2z cover)

Two truths about life that you and I both have experienced:

Firstly, you and I are not in control.

keshi sings, “time after time, you just keep on rolling the dice”. And again, “at the end of the line, you learn it ain’t fair by design”.

Likewise, Ecclesiastes says, “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all”.

Secondly, life is vain, momentary and fleeting.

keshi sings, “you do what you can when you’re born into life just to die”.

Similarly, Ecclesiastes says, “I hated all my toil in which I toil under the sun, seeing that I must leave it to the man who will come after me, and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This is also vanity”.

Life is full of injustice, big and small. Our work is a futile attempt at purpose and meaning before we inevitably leave it behind.

In the end, we should fear God and keep his commandments, knowing he will judge with equity. And we enjoy our toil simply as God’s gift.
