Grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi is undoubtedly one of the best chess players in the world. However, he has had a remarkable run of disappointments in his quest for the World Champion title, and has come just short of the title 4 times in just an 18 month stretch between 2021 and 2023.
He faced GMs Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Hikaru Nakamura and Nodirbek Abdusattorov. In this video, we discuss these 4 finals, and whether Ian has just been unlucky or often chokes in critical moments.
