#Ganga #Aarti is being performed in many places in the evening in #Rishikesh on the bank of the holy river #Ganges. However, this one was special on the occasion of #Krishna #janmastami. Aarti took place in #Shatrughan #ghat, #Ram #Jhula.
Ritual started with worshiping river #Ganga. Then I went on with different prayers. The 5 steps Aarti took place rigorously. 5 priests performed
1) Dheep Aarti: offer light to the river
2) Dhoop Aarti: offer fragrance to river
3) Dhuna Aarti: offer flowers to the river
4) Nag Aarti: with shiv tandav prayer
5) Jal Aarti: praying Ganga by offering light
After many on the crowd went ahead and offered a flower to the river.
This practice has been carried for thousands of years every day without fail.
SHATRUGHAN ghat in Rishikesh performs Ganga Aarti as it takes place in Banaras way. However many places perform in different ways.
Aarti started slightly before the #sunset and finished after the sunset worshipping with Ganga prayer. They included Shiva Tandava prayer for Nag Aarti which was very beautiful. Watching this ritual on the bank of river Ganga was such a bliss.
