As a neurodivergent writer and creator, scent is a powerful sensory tool that helps me access emotion, memory, and character POV while writing nostalgic and emotionally driven stories.
From fragrances that smell like a cool older sister, a father’s hug, a childhood best friend you never saw again, an aunt’s candle-filled home, to a scent that feels like summer, amusement parks, and being a kid again—these fragrances help me write stories about what could have been, family wounds, grief, and soft nostalgia.
