Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites develop the ability to persist or grow in the presence of drugs designed to inhibit or kill them. Antimicrobials are medicines, which are used to treat and prevent infections in human beings. According to WHO, AMR will be one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity. Misuse and overuse of antimicrobials are the main reasons for the development of AMR.
