A very rare 1970 Hemi Cuda takes on some serious old school muscle cars: 171 Buick GSX Stage 1; 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge; 1969 Hemi Road Runner and a 1966 Hemi Coronet R/T.

All of the muscle cars in the video are very rare and desired muscle cars. So, how so how does other Detriot muscle stack up against an 1970 Hemi Cuda which is powered a Hemi headed 426 Cubic Inch (7 L) which was conservatively rated at 425 horsepower.



The first car to take on the Hemi Cuda is a 1971 Buick GSX Stage 1. The GSX is equipped with Buick's torquey 455 cubic inch Stage 1 engine; however, since it is a 1971 it has a lower compression ratio than the 1970 Stage 1 and lost about 45 horsepower - went from 360 HP in 1970 to 315 HP in 1971.


The next car to race the Hemi Cuda is a 1970 GTO Judge with the Ram Air III option. The GTO Judge is equipped with a 400 cubic inch motor rated at 366 horsepower.

The third car to race the Hemi Cuda is a 1969 Hemi Road Runner which is equipped with the same 426 cubic inch Hemi that powers the Hemi Cuda. Both cars weigh about the same, and both are rated at 425 horsepower.

The last car to race the Hemi Cuda is very rare 1966 Hemi Dodge Coronet R/T. The Hemi Coronet R/T is also powered by Chrysler's elephant motor 426 Hemi rated at 425 horsepower.

All the cars in the video are competing in the Pure Stock Drags, so modifications are very limited. The only modifications permitted are minor porting, blue printing and minor weight reduction without altering the stock appearance. Camshafts and compression ratio have to be within a small percentage of stock specs. That means stock intake manifold, stock exhaust manifolds and street tires.
