This interesting version of the tune "Constant Billy" was collected by The Travelling Morrice from Charles Benfield (1841-1929). The traditional tune archive points out that the tune “Constant Billy" is very similar to a Scottish tune "'Cia mar is urra' sinn fuireach o'n Dram", published in Frazer’s The Airs and Melodies Peculiar to the Highlands of Scotland and the Isles (1816). Frazer says that the tune was composed by a John MacMurdo or MacRae of Kintail in the early 18th century.
