IMPORTANT POST VIDEO NOTE: “After this episode I discovered that I did NOT double check the wastegate actuator Rod preload for the assembled turbo. I simply installed it as delivered and I would suggest others check this prior to installing to confirm preload. When I did check it I discovered the wastgate was never closing and as a result was not nearly as lively as I expected and after setting the preload to about 1.5mm the car is a rocket! I will have a subsequent video done to address this specific thing.”
In this episode, I physically bolt up the Big Wheel RPM Upgraded Turbo. As it turns out, there are some easy torque specs that you should confirm while the car is apart. These torque confirmation checks should be done before installation of the Turbo as things can ... and in fact do ... loosen up even on a car with only 8,000 miles. In addition to mounting the Turbo, I install the Kappa Haus fabricated motor mounts to reduce engine twist-over with the extra power. I include torque specs and part numbers where I can as a way to provide a one-stop spot to identify everything you need to do and buy in advance.
