Mussenden Temple is one of the most photographed Georgian buildings in the whole of Ireland.
The cliff-top beauty is in the grounds of Downhill Castle, a grand Georgian mansion that's stood empty for over 70 years.
Downhill Castle, in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, was built by Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Londonderry. He's often referred to as the Earl Bishop.
His grand house is now an empty shell. What now attracts visitors is the sight of Mussenden Temple perched on the edge of the cliff.
We visited Mussenden Temple and Downhill Castle in June 2025.
