SLEX TR4 refers to the South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4, a 66.74-kilometer expressway project extending the SLEX from Sto. Tomas, Batangas, to Lucena City, Quezon. This major infrastructure project is designed to cut travel time between these cities from about four hours to just one, improve connectivity, and boost the regional economy. It is expected to partially open in 2025 or 2026, with full completion in the following years.
Key features and benefits
Reduced travel time:
The primary goal is to drastically decrease travel time between Sto. Tomas, Batangas, and Lucena City, Quezon.
Improved connectivity:
The project connects provinces in Southern Luzon, acting as an alternative to the Maharlika Highway and connecting cities to the capital region.
Economic growth:
By facilitating faster travel and commerce, the expressway is expected to stimulate economic activity in the region.
Part of a larger plan:
SLEX TR4 is part of the SLEX Phase 2 Project and will eventually pave the way for SLEX TR5, which will further extend the highway to the Bicol region.
Project status:
Construction is ongoing, with a partial opening anticipated around 2025 or 2026. The project is being undertaken by San Miguel Corporation.
