How to grow Lonicera hildebrandiana, the Giant Burmese Honeysuckle!

This week on The Horti-Culturalists we take a trip to the mountains of SE Asia for a deep dive into the largest of the honeysuckle family, Lonicera hildebrandiana - or Lonicera hildebrandtiana - as Stephen will explain - at SOME length! And it is the biggest in EVERY way! Biggest flowers in the genus, biggest leaves, and biggest fruit! So size does matter with this incredible climbing plant and just for added delight the berries taste like gin & tonic! Obviously the common name hasn't caught up with the modern geo-political climate as Burma is now known as Myanmar but the old plant name sticks! The other interesting thing to understand whilst looking at this rare in cultivation plant is....just why it IS rare in cultivation! Stephen explains why this is a common state of affairs for many plants and its a heady mix of capitalism and propagation issues!
