This is the second lecture in the Q2XAFS2024 workshop organized by Prof. Kiyotaka Asakura and collaborators. This lecture addresses the status of ongoing discussions about data format standardization and metadata needs for XAFS, including as regards satisfying new data requirements in the European Union and elsewhere. The recording includes a discussion with input from many participants that futher illuminates the key issues.
