We're continuing our Alaska travels this week in Valdez, Alaska! We set out from Anchorage after a work week, and made it to Valdez by 9pm.
We came up to Valdez for a few reasons including the food, a kayak tour, and some casual hiking!
We started out by driving through one of the most beautiful places in Alaska - Thompson Pass. This is the snowiest place in Alaska in the winter and full of adventure in the summer! We stopped at Worthington glacier, Blueberry lake, and Bridal Veil falls.
We woke up early the next day to head out on our big adventure in Valdez - kayaking around the Columbia Glacier. This was a 10-hour tour which included a small boat ride to and from the glacier and a 2-3 hour kayak trip.
We had a wonderful time on our tour and highly recommend Columbia glacier kayaking!
After making it back to Valdez we stopped for dinner at The Potato. This is a Valdez must-do and you have to try the rosemary garlic fries!
After exploring the harbor area we headed back to our airbnb.
For our last day in Valdez we got some coffee at The Coffee Co and made one last stop at the salmon hatchery. This was a really unique thing to witness with all of the salmon trying to return home. We saw sea lions, birds, and bears!

Each of our Alaskan adventures have been done over a weekend, and we are so grateful to be able to do these things without having to travel far from home.
Living in Alaska has been a dream so far, and we can't wait to continue exploring and sharing!
