Karl L. King (February 21, 1891 – February 19, 1971) was a United States march music bandmaster and composer, often seen as a rival to Sousa. He is best known as the composer of "Barnum and Bailey's Favorite". If his birth date and the year this was originally published are correct, he was just 19 years old when this was published!
Although any performances of the original March appear to be much faster (almost Circus March tempo), I have taken a couple of liberties and reduced the tempo to a still fairly well paced 130bpm which is more suited to traditional British -style Brass Band. I estimate the original to be nearer 140 - 150 bpm.
It doesn't appear that this march was ever actually published or arranged for British Brass Band ensemble, so this edition has been transcribed especially for this channel as it deserves to be heard more widely again and certainly covers all the bases of an outstanding March.
