Proceeding with scraping of the flat top surfaces on the saddle.
Tested first during the rough scraping cycle with the sled, but apparantly not enough at this stage with the cross-slide as master as it turned out that the surfaces tilted a little down at the outside of each flat. This was rectified using the step-scraping technique. Then I sough to improve the surface and increase the PPI a bit, using for example the finishing technique showed here by polishing the highest of the high spots and taking these down. After obtaining the wanted alignment and surface quality and "match" between the cross-slide and saddle I also verified that the overall geometry was retained.
It also was evident that the dovetails needed some work to get the satisfactory smooth action with only a minimum of play when testing "fully assembled" with the cross-slide, so a small correction (only 1/100mm or so..) was applied on the dovetail surfaces.
