Early in the Yorkshire campaign David was working on smaller 2x3’ canvases and driving round in a rental van. This was a windy day in Fridaythorpe, one of the highest spots in the Wolds. Note the weighted-down easel.
David likes to set himself new challenges, whether painting the unphotographable or depicting the unexplored and unremarkable. Here he draws an unexpected parallel between East Yorkshire and Los Angeles, both places he has responded to and on both has left a permanent imprint.
