The history of the Alsace-class battleship 🇫🇷
The Alsace-class battleships were a planned series of French capital ships designed before World War II as successors to the Richelieu class. Intended to carry heavier armament and improved protection, they would have reinforced France’s naval power against Axis fleets. Several designs were considered, but the project was canceled in 1940 following France’s defeat. None were built, yet the Alsace class remains a symbol of France’s unfulfilled naval ambitions during the era.
