Finding the Coolest Bird on Earth: The GREAT HORNBILL | Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary | India 003

Wow, our birding luck has really struck. Our third destination in India, Netravali (Neturlim), has yielded amazing birding. We’ve had many sightings of the Malabar Pied Hornbill and even one glimpse of the majestic Great Hornbill. It may also be one of the most beautiful places we’ve seen, with lush forest surrounding a small village. Netravali is definitely a place we’ll be visiting again in the future.

Interestingly, we again spotted more birds in our garden and around the village than inside the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. That said, the sanctuary didn’t open until 8:30, so we didn’t get the chance to do early-morning birding inside the strictly protected areas. The entry fee was about 100 rupees per person, plus an additional 50 for each camera.
