With the Federal Government Shutdown continuing into the second week of 2019, there have been countless reports of people taking advantage of the situation and wreaking havoc on our National Parks. With federal employees furloughed indefinitely and the gates at some national parks left wide open, there are no staffers in the parks to tend to overflowing dumpsters and malfunctioning restrooms. During times like these, one would hope that our collective morality would shine and prevent us from reverting to our primitive ways.
If you are planning on visiting the National Parks during the Government Shutdown, please be courteous and pick up after yourself, don't leave anything behind (toilet paper, trash, etc), and educate yourself on the rules.
