When I started my training in play therapy, one of the first things I learned was the techniques of limit-setting. The trainers helped us to move from a place of judgment into empathetic connection and redirection with children. Several years later, these techniques are still useful in my work with families. In this video, I explore the importance of validating and helping children deal with difficult emotions while modifying behavior.
