Fresh crab meat brings a unique taste for a fry. Try it if you like crab.
ngredients :
Crab Meat - 16 oz
Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
Fennel Seeds - 1 tbsp
Green Chilies - 12 ct
Garlic Cloves - 10ct
Turmeric Powder - 3/4 tsp
Salt - as needed
Oil - 4 tbsp
Curry Leaves - 2 sprigs
Sliced Onions - 1/2 cup
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
Chopped Cilantro - 1 bunch
Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
Red Chili Powder - 2-3 tbsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Preparation :
Step 1 :
Pounding:
In a pestle and motor (or in a grinder jar), add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, green chilies and garlic cloves and pound them till you get the desired consistency.
Note: Don't grind it too fine. It shouldn't be like paste.
Step 2 :
Preparing Crab Meat:
In a pan, add water. Once the water is hot, add salt and turmeric onto the water. Add cleaned crab meat into the water and cook it for 10-12 mins. After 10 mins, strain the water and keep the cooked crab meat aside.
Note: You can also cook regular shelled crab pieces the same way. Instead of crab meat you can add shelled crab pieces.
Step 3 :
Crab Fry Preparation :
In a wok (or pan), add oil. Once the oil is hot, add the pounded mix into the oil and cook it until all the flavors merge into the oil. Then add turmeric powder, curry leaves and salt and fry them. Add sliced onions and let them fry until they turn translucent. Then add ginger garlic paste and fry it until the raw smell is gone. Add chopped cilantro, cooked crab meat (or shelled crab pieces), coriander powder, red chili powder and garam masala powder. Mix well in between to make sure nothing is burnt and fry until dry. Sprinkle some chopped cilantro and mix. Move it into a serving dish and enjoy with rice.
