Playmates - A Human-Robot Performance (Interaction with NAO Robot 6 during Robots in Residence)

This performance presents the results of the residency 'Robots in Residence' in Bucharest, in which Cristina Bodnarescu (programming), Maria Bucurenciu (programming) and Cristina-Maria Misirgic (script, performer) equipped one of the 3 NAO robots, travelling through Europe, with new skills.

Touching on common concerns towards the limits of AI ethics, the team worked with NAO for a couple of months and taught her how to play childhood games such as Hangman and a few mime and dancing moves. Should we see robots as an equal non-human? Are they trustworthy and reliable? Will they Save or Cancel our Humanity? These were a few questions that sparkled the artists' interests and were underlined during the performance within the dialogue & interaction between a human (Cristina-Maria Misirgic) and a humanoid robot (NAO 6).
