The Most Important Skill for Adventure Bikes

If your goal is to become more confident riding your adventure bike off-road, then developing your balance is essential. We all dream of carving through scenic singletrack and tackling rugged trails—but doing so on a tall, heavy adventure bike can feel intimidating.

Focusing on balance helps you master proper body positioning and foot placement on the pegs. This not only improves control but also conserves energy on challenging terrain. Your bike will track straighter on the trail and generate better traction if you are properly position on the bike.

With practice, balance will become second nature. Soon, you’ll find yourself instinctively adjusting to the bike and terrain. Your bike will stay more true on the trail and make more traction as well. Instead of fighting the bike, you’ll stay loose, relaxed, and focused on the trail ahead.

Trail Riding on my Tenere 700 is one of life's great joys. Developing the confidence to ride is extremely challenging spots alone took time. It was well worth the wait. Adventure bikes can take a relatively easy trail and make it a ton of fun. In the bicycle world we call this Under Biking.

Developing this skill will help you ride with more confidence at your next trail meet up or adventure rally.

Here in Pennsylvania we have lots of muddy rocky trails. Everything is slick and wet, covered in mud and moss. The Motoz Rally tires do help, but they aren't full knobby tires. I quickly learned that the tires will only do so much. Balance is in my opinion one of the most important of the fundamental riding skills that often gets over looked.
