For our first video of 2026, we start out in the month of January for two weekends at Western Maryland Scenic Railroad for some steam action with 2-6-6-2 No.1309! This year in January, No.1309 lead 2 trips a day for two weekends to Frostburg MD and return. We are able to get as much footage of No.1309 working hard thru the mountainous woods and hills of the Alleghenies as the whistle echos off the mountainside and roaring thru the little bit of snow that lays on the ground. In this video, No.1309 is wearing a replica Western Maryland 3 Chime, from WMSR's famous 2-8-0 No.734, as we hear the voice of Mountain Thunder for the first time in years on 1309! Come along with us as we capture No.1309 pounding on the former Western Maryland Mainline, and see some winter steam in, Mountainous Winter Thunder with No.1309!
