This approach emerged during late 1970s and early 1980s. Its origin can be traced out in first world conference in Mexico in 1975. In essence, the WAD approach begins from the position that women always have been part of development processes and that they did not suddenly appear in the early 1970s as the result of the insights and intervention strategies of a few scholars and agency personnel.
