Directed by David Leland, this episode centers on medic Eugene Roe, played by Shane Taylor, and offers an intimate, emotional look at life on the front lines during the Battle of the Bulge.
I absolutely loved this perspective. Following Roe as he tries to save lives amid freezing temperatures and constant bombardment was heart-wrenching. His friendship with nurse Renée was touching and tragic, and watching her fate unfold hit hard. The cinematography in this episode - muted, cold, and claustrophobic - was brilliant. You can feel the exhaustion, fear, and humanity in every frame. This might be one of my favorite episodes so far.
