Governor-General Sam Mostyn has formally established a Royal Commission into the Bondi terror attack and antisemitism, 26 days after the shooting that claimed 15 lives. Commissioner Virginia Bell will report by December 2025, with Dennis Richardson's review of federal agencies included and due by April. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reversed his position after three weeks of resisting calls for the inquiry, despite previously stating it would force victims' families to relive the tragedy and citing Port Arthur and the Lindt Siege as precedents for not holding inquiries.
