Recovered audio logs from Dr. Rowan Adler, Field Psychologist—classified as final transmission from Polaris XIII.
We shouldn't have opened the basement.
⚠️ CONTENT NOTICE: Contains extreme isolation horror, psychological deterioration, deep-sea/arctic dread, and unexplainable phenomena. This is a work of fiction.
I was sent to Polaris XIII to assess the relief team. We arrived to find the station fully operational. The generator was running. The heat was on. The lights were humming.
But the station was empty.
At the main airlock, we found them: Six pairs of boots lined up against the wall, perfectly parallel. Beside them, six sets of thermal gear folded with military precision.
The previous crew didn't panic. They didn't flee. They calmly removed their gear and walked out into negative forty-degree darkness... barefoot.
We thought it was isolation psychosis. We thought we could explain it. Then we found the hatch under the storage room floor—a sublevel that wasn't on the blueprints, buried under 800 meters of ice.
Some doors are locked for a reason. Some things buried in the ice aren't dead; they’re just waiting.
What follows is the reconstruction of the 47 hours after they opened the hatch.

💬 The Question: If you found a hatch in your house that wasn't on the blueprints, would you open it? Let me know in the comments.
