As Palestinians await the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza Peace Plan, Israel continues to carry out air strikes in Gaza, killing hundreds of people. Despite Israel’s near-daily ceasefire violations, the negotiating parties are now working on the formation of the board of technocrats that will oversee the Strip’s governance. A former deputy minister of the Palestinian Authority, Ali Shaath, has been chosen to lead the 14-member committee. Among other names included are several people associated with the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Fund. Hamas said it will dissolve its existing government in Gaza once the leadership committee takes over the territory. As the establishing administrative body moves forward the question is: will those assuming power truly work toward alleviating Gaza's suffering?
