🌙 Winter Solstice Restorative Yoga: Finding Stillness
This gentle restorative practice is designed to help you transition into the quiet energy of the Winter Solstice. I have selected these poses to help ground the nervous system and prepare the body for deep, introspective rest. This makes it an ideal preparation for my Winter Solstice Yoga Nidra • Winter Solstice & Dark Moon Yoga Nidra & V... .
✨ The Practice
We move through a minimal sequence designed to encourage an inward focus and a soft release of tension:
Crocodile Pose (Makarasana): A deeply grounding prone position to settle the breath and calm the "fight or flight" response.
Supported Child’s Pose: Using props to allow the back body to open and the mind to turn inward.
Heart-Opening Savasana: A supported finish to gently expand the chest and encourage a sense of quiet renewal.
"I pause. I rest. I am still."
🛠️ How to Prepare
Props: You will need a bolster (or several firm pillows), a few blankets, and an eye pillow if you have one.
Environment: Dim the lights or light a candle to honour the midwinter darkness.
I specialise in bridging clinical OT with gentle, restorative, chair and hatha yoga; working with natural seasonal rhythms to support sustainable symptom management and well-being.
