its quoted multiple times that our greatest asset can also be our greatest weakness and is true for software development teams and tech world in general. Software development teams focused on a goal was, is and will be the greatest asset any organization could have, however, the problem is that forming a team doesn;t necessarily mean team work.
In many teams, most of time goes to conflict resolution than doing the actual work and people in these team are looking for alternative way of working and one of the alternative is being an individual contributor in tech world.
Even though we have the jobs stating as individual contributors, they are not actually working individually, but thing might change with the arrival of generative AI and AI enabled tools in general.
For an individual contributor an A.I. can very well be the team member of the indidividuals helping them in pair programming, testing and helping them packaging the software as well as working on various permutations and combinations.
Over a period of time, with the help of generative AI, the individual contributors can be a center of the axis and the AI enabled tools can revolve around them just like ironman and jarvis.
