This law is about running away from the police while driving a vehicle. Here's a simplified version:
(1) If you're driving a car and a cop tells you to stop, you have to stop. If you refuse to stop or try to escape after stopping, it's a felony.
(2) If you run away from a cop in a marked police car with lights and sirens on, it's also a felony.
(3) If you do (2) and drive really fast or dangerously, it's a more serious felony. If you hurt or kill someone, it's even worse.
(4) If you're in a crash and try to escape from the police, it's a felony. If you hurt someone or damage property, it's worse. If you hurt or kill someone, it's the worst.
(5) Your driver's license can be taken away for 1 to 5 years if you're convicted of any of these crimes.
(6) You can't avoid punishment or early release for these crimes.
(7) If you use a vehicle in these crimes, the police can take it and keep it.
