Raku fired vase. The first 20 seconds are for those of you that like short and sweet content. Keep watching for a more extensive informative process. I used electrical tape. I created a tool that allows me to cut it to any width I want. The clay body is Standard 295 with kyanite. Glazed with my clear crackle Raku glaze that fires to 1900°F. When I pull the vase out of the kiln. I blow air on it to help develop the crackle. After that, it goes into a metal can lined with paper, more paper gets added to get a good fire going. Then it’s covered to suffocate the fire and get a lot of smoke going in the can. Because of the temperature, the clay absorbs the smoke through the cracks allowing for the end result seen at the end.
