What is an Article?
An article is a word that defines a noun as specific or unspecific. It comes before a noun to give more information about it.
Example:
The cat is sleeping. (specific cat)
A cat is sleeping. (any cat)

Types of Articles
1. Definite Article – The
Refers to a specific noun that is known to the speaker and listener.
Examples:
The sun rises in the east.
I saw the teacher in the market.
2. Indefinite Articles – A and An
Refer to a noun in a general or unspecific way.
A – used before words starting with a consonant sound.
Example: I saw a dog in the park.
An – used before words starting with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u).
Example: She is eating an apple.

Use a before: a book, a teacher, a university (because "university" starts with a yoo sound).
Use an before: an hour, an honest man (because 'h' is silent and the word starts with a vowel sound).
