This edited version of my Irish Sea crossing during Storm Eunice is in case you didn't want to watch my (full length) version which can also be found on this playlist.

Filmed aboard Irish Ferries vessels Ulysses from Dublin to Holyhead and Blue Star 1 from Rosslare Europort to Pembroke Dock, this footage shows the severity of Storm Eunice which hit the UK on 18 February 2022, just days after Storm Dudley and shortly before Storm Franklin.

Passing the Stena Line vessels Stena Nordica and Stena Adventurer, we see the huge waves and massive swells the storm created.

Arrival in Holyhead aboard the giant Ulysses we see the waves ploughing over the breakwater then, suddenly, the huge cruise ferry lists to port - viewed from her Club Class Lounge above the ships' bridge, the horizon can be seen disappearing above and below her floor to ceiling windows as the ship tries to righten herself.

Eventually rounding the jetty towards her berth, Storm Eunice is recorded at reaching 83knots (95mph) essentially "pinning the ferry to the jetty" - as per Captain's announcement. Unable to move ahead or astern, we remain in this position for several hours until the wind abates.

Meanwhile, Stena Adventurer arrives from Dublin. Cautiously entering the harbour, Storm Eunice 'grabs' her and pushes her sideways towards the jetty. Passengers aboard Ulysses watch as a (tiny) tug tries to swing the Stena ferry.

Deciding to abort the manoeuvre, Stena Adventurer heads back out to sea (the safest place to be when a storm hits).
