i was given a m44 engine which i decided to fit into my e30. I knew it wasn’t going to be straight forward but hopefully it will be worth wile. i have fitted itbs, solid engine mounts and a 4 into 1 stainless steel exhaust manifold. apparently the m42 e30 exhaust, mounts and inlet will work but where is the fun in that. I am hoping that the engine will work with the standard ecu which will be interesting to see. It has been a lot of work mainly with the exhaust manifold.
