Before I made this video, I had seen some many beautiful parts of Jaipur like for example the Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal and Nahargarh Fort. Those places are also what most visitors of the city decide to see. However there are other parts that no travellers or tourists go to.
I wanted to see the worst parts of the city so I got myself a Tuk Tuk that took me to the slums. My goal was to get an insight into the lives of these people and talk to them. I was happy how friendly the people were and how warmly I was welcomed. It is sad how these people are forced to live. The children can't go to school, some of the people live in tents that leak when it rains and there is no sewage system available. The people played the drums and sang a few songs for me which was a huge honor. Before leaving I gave two families and also a 4 year old girl that got severely burned a little bit of money to make their lifes a bit easier. Even though these people have nothing, they have not lost their happiness.
This was a very humbling experience and made me realize even more how lucky I am not being in a situation like this. I was the first white person many of the children had seen in their lives since they get no visitors whatsoever and that is why they got a bit excited when I came.
