"Get your Wish" by Magpipe | Geometry Dash 2.2

I've actually had this video ready to be uploaded for 6 months now, but I never got around to publishing it yet. Since then, I've also had the chance to see this fantastic song live, so I wanted to showcase this and say my thoughts eventually. It's not too often you have big songs like this used in Geometry Dash levels, making it special when it's done well, which is obviously because they're not easily available but also because it can harm the chances of a rate. For this, they had a remix made, and I'm glad it ended up with an Epic rating.

This is a collaboration between RueOfficial and Magpipe, with the former making some of the gameplay, while the latter did the rest. Magpipe said the visuals are his interpretation of the official music video, and I can definitely see the resemblance. At the same time, it's not close to being copied thanks to lots of original designs and other stylistic choices, which I appreciate for originality's sake. For one, the brown and gray block designs in the first part blend really well with the custom background consisting of clouds and water. Here, the foreground is original while the background is also seen in the music video, but the background is much more stylized for Geometry Dash too. Later parts introduce some effects to the climax of the song, before rounding it off nicely with the first part's visuals, except at night and with lanterns in the sky.

In terms of gameplay, I enjoyed it overall. It synchronizes nicely to the song, making it easy to play through for the most part. I did find it a little unclear at first, such as at 0:51, where the upcoming blue orb shows up a bit suddenly. In general, this climax needs a practice run before playing in normal, as the speed and effects make it harder to see what's next. For example, you need to know that the ship at 1:18 requires you to go straight before entering it to avoid dying. Showing the spikes above and below earlier would probably have been beneficial. Either way, these are small nitpicks that don't take away much from the overall experience of this level. I really like seeing a song like this used so well in the game. Good job to Magpipe and RueOfficial!
