Shortly after 4 am on 19APR16 box 1-3 was alerted for a a "fully involved' structure fire in the 2000 block of North 2nd St. in the Uptown section of the city.
Enroute DC911 advised a mother and young daughter were trapped on the roof.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions in the rear rapidly spreading to the exposures on either side.
T2 and W3 personnel utilized a ground ladder to reach and rescue the trapped occupants.
Lines were run into the exposures and main fire building. Crews were driven out of the main fire building by deteriorating conditions.
S8 and T1 positioned on the C side of the buildings on Penn Street and operated the S8 deck gun as well as the Tower 1 bucket master stream. A 2" line was also stretched into the D exposure.
A second alarm was struck bring county units in to assist.
Major collapses occurred in the original fire building on the interior and the C side of the building.
Crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control and overhaul the involved buildings.
