I can't unsee what I've seen ... Christianity IS mythology - Kristyn Whitaker Hood

Today I spoke with Kristyn Whitaker Hood, who grew up in the Assemblies of God denomination and gave her life to Jesus at a young age, but ultimately deconverted as she examined the truth claims of Christianity and realized that it IS mythology.

We touched on many topics, including:

• Being frequently invited to give her heart to Jesus and rededicate her life to Christ.
• Constantly trying to sense and judge who in the room is a Christian and on fire for the Lord vs. who needs to get saved or get more serious about the Lord.
• Seeing Christian Nationalism creep into church events.
• Getting exposed to many variations of Christians and of Bible interpretations, which broadened her perspective.
• Learning the various ways that the Gospels wove together aspects of various mythologies, mystery cults, Gnosticism, astrotheology, and some history, and realizing that the Gospels are truly a product of their time.
• Realizing that Christians by and large "read Paul" through the Gospels, but if you reverse that, you realize the mythical nature of the stories.
• Realizing that early Christianity evolved to serve a political purpose for ancient Rome.
• How Christianity makes people subservient by enabling them to put up with bad treatment now with the promise of a much better afterlife.
• The importance of understanding that you can be good without a god.
• Learning to enjoy the beauty and moments of life more, after you "lose" the afterlife during deconversion.
