Mommy Wine Culture. There's no official definition for it, but you'd recognize it if you saw it.
It's things like the "Moms Who Need Wine" Facebook Group, a wine glass that says "Mommy's sippy cup", or a t-shirt that says “Surviving Homeschool One Breakdown (And Glass of Wine) at a Time”.
Let me tell you why this mommy wine culture is so problematic.
This culture can perpetuate the belief that women need alcohol to survive being a mom.
This culture tells women that the best and only way to be a mom is with a glass of wine. That without that wine, being a mom is miserable & impossible to navigate.
I've been a mom who believed she needed wine to read my kids a story before they went to bed, and I have been a mom without any alcohol at all.
Let me tell you from experience, parenting without booze is infinitely more enjoyable than it could have ever been when I was dulling all of my experiences with my children down with a bottle of wine.
