Episode 762. Most whisky YouTubers dump on Macallan. I have too. The bottles are expensive, and many buy them just for the name. So I’ve avoided Macallan… until now.
A friend of the channel handed me the Macallan Classic Cut 2022 (52.5%, matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry) and asked: But does it really suck?
To find out, I put it head-to-head with two other cask strength Speyside whiskies:
Tamdhu Batch Strength 006 – all ex-sherry
Tomatin Cask Strength – a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry
Price aside, the Macallan might just be the best of the three. But would I buy it? That’s another story.
