La Superba 🔱 Palermo

ℹ️ Just days before her final departure for scrapping in Aliaga, Turkey, the legendary Ro-Pax ferry La Superba is seen in Palermo, captured by drone.

Built in 2002 by Nuovi Cantieri Apuania, La Superba was once the largest cruise ferry in the Mediterranean, with a capacity of 2,920 passengers, 1,000 vehicles, and over 2,800 meters of freight lanes. She was a floating palace, featuring restaurants, bars, a pool, a gym, a cinema and a disco.

On January 14, 2023, a fire broke out on the car deck while the ship was docked in Palermo. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated, but the damage was too extensive to repair. After more than two decades of service for Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), she was declared a total constructive loss and prepared for dismantling.

This video captures her quiet elegance during her final days — a last tribute to one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic ferries.
