Tongli Ancient Town, located in Wujiang District of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, is a thousand-year-old water town renowned for its classical beauty. Nine rivers flow through the town, connected by fifteen ancient bridges, forming a graceful network of waterways and stone alleys. The Tuisi Garden, a masterpiece of traditional Chinese landscaping, embodies elegance with its pavilions, corridors, and reflections shimmering on the water. Many Ming and Qing dynasty residences remain well preserved, featuring whitewashed walls and black-tiled roofs. During the day, wooden boats glide along the canals as boatwomen sing in soft Suzhou dialects; at night, lanterns cast gentle light on the rippling water, creating a scene of serene charm. Tongli is often hailed as the “Venice of the East,” a living poem of Jiangnan’s tranquil beauty.
