Optic Nerve is the Detroit techno alias of Keith Tucker, also known as DJ K-1, Alien FM, and co-founder of Aux88. Keith Tucker, a pioneering figure in Detroit’s electronic music scene, launched Optic Nerve as a solo project that explores the cinematic and futuristic dimensions of techno. Originally a collaborative effort with Anthony “Blaktony” Horton and Gerald “G-man” Sims, Optic Nerve evolved into Tucker’s personal vehicle for deep, melodic, and orchestral techno compositions after Horton departed and Sims passed away. Tucker’s work under this alias is known for its rich synth textures and escapist themes, reflecting the gritty yet visionary spirit of Detroit. Alongside his other personas—DJ K-1, Alien FM, and as part of Aux88—Tucker helped define the electro bass sound and remains a prolific force in techno, with releases on labels like Soma and Axis Records.

Puzzlebox Records is a Detroit-based techno and electro label founded in 1995 by Keith Tucker and Anthony “Shake” Shakir, known for championing futuristic, cinematic sounds and the city's rich electronic heritage. Created as a platform for Tucker’s many aliases—including DJ K-1, Optic Nerve, Alien FM, and KT-19941—Puzzlebox became a hub for experimental electro and techno rooted in Detroit’s legacy of innovation. The label’s first release, Aura / With A Piece of Ice, featured Tucker and Shakir’s distinct styles and set the tone for a catalog that includes seminal works by Aux 88, Optic Nerve, and A Number of Names.
