“Underwear 4 Kindergarten”: Parent potty training program- Video 1 out of 4: “Pre-Skills For Potty Training A Child With Down syndrome"

Part 1 of this training program focuses on ensuring you have all the important steps, tools, and tricks you need to begin transitioning your child into this challenging transitional period. It is incredibly important for the child to be comfortable, willing, and fully able to jump into the potty training period once they have enhanced their pre-skills.

This session will also give parents and guardians of children with Ds important knowledge about recognizing and refocusing their attention on potty time in a more positive, encouraging, and secure way so that your child can work on doing the same.

Important pre-skills explained throughout this lesson:
~Continue to teach and practice waiting (waiting hands)
~Observe your child closely for any tells
~Track their activity in the bathroom and on the potty chair as often as you can with a potty log
~Use the bathroom for any/all toileting needs

This session will also give parents and guardians of children with Ds important knowledge about recognizing and refocusing their attention on potty time in a more positive, encouraging, and secure way so that your child can work on doing the same.
