In this lesson, I'll show you some ways I think about voice leading when playing single note solos. We'll go through a top level explanation of how voice leading works when we're playing improvised solos over chord changes. Then, I'll take you through an example of what I've come to call a "voice leading pathway," that can act as a thru line for your solos. After that, we'll go through a few different ways of filling in lines and getting your ear involved with the process of turning the pathway into a fully realized solo. Finally, I'll give you a short example over the A section to the standard "It could Happen to You," before demonstrating an etude that shows you how your solos can sound if you're focusing on good voice leading.
