2x 1982 KONE (rb. 2010 KONE) MRL tr. elevators @ Helsinki Central Railway Station metro station, FI

These are elevators AE 01 and AE 02 at Helsinki Central Railway Station metro station. The south elevator is AE 01 and the north elevator is AE 02. These two elevators are metro access elevators. Floors M to U had no floor numbering before the rebuilding, just signs ”Metro”, ”Service tunnel” and ”Exit” and arrows up and down and middle level accessible by showing badge. Indicators showed the progress of moving elevator. The elevators have common buttons for going to floor M or U depending on which floor the elevator is on. Service tunnel (H) is for maintenance and they have to show their badge on the badge scanner for going there. Exit level (U) has ticket hall, shopping area and access to elevators and escalators up to station tunnel with Asematunneli shopping passage and elevator AE 03 has access to exit A to Elielinaukio and elevator AF 04 has access towards Kaivopiha shopping center. These elevators were originally made in 1982 and later rebuilt in 2010 by KONE. The elevators were bottom-drive tractions with machine room before the rebuilding but now they were changed to MRL tractions. Also the technical closets of MRL elevators were installed on metro level (M) and countdown indicators which show countdown for coming elevator when it is called were added outside in the rebuilding. The elevator serial numbers were H41207 on elevator AE 01 and H41208 on elevator AE 02 before the rebuilding but after that they’re 11292263 on elevator AE 01 and 11292264 on elevator AE 02 now. The elevators have no data about the original installation year nor serial numbers. Exit level (U) is marked as 1st floor on elevator AE 03 and as metro level (M) on elevator AF 04. That’s because elevator AE 03 uses more simple floor numbering system at Helsinki Central Railway Station metro station and exit level (U) is considered as entrance to metro for people coming to metro station on elevator AF 04. Helsinki metro was opened on 2.8.1982.
